Day 6 - A trip to the Huang Jia Hu Campus

Today has been really an awesome day because we got the chance to visit the Huang Jia Hu Campus which is an hour's drive from the main campus. Today we have to wake up and get ready by 845 before we depart to the campus.

Upon arriving, all of us were taken aback by the warm welcome by the students. While we were still in the bus, we could see the students who were welcoming us rushed to the door of the bus to take one of us to be our guide for that day. I was utterly shocked by their overwhelming warmth that i have never ever felt before.

As i alighted from the bus, i was taken by two local girl students who greeted me with their biggest smile. They introduced themselves in English and i told them i am able to understand Mandrin and they were so relieved. They told me that they were worried that we do not know Chinese. But in my own opinion, i think their English is good =).

Anyway we were brought into a classroom to attend a welcoming speech from the school and get to their campus history. After which, we went to the tennis court to play a couple of games to bond with the host students. We sure did have loads of fun even though the weather was quite chilly!

Reached the Huang Jia Hu Campus. Was greeted by this outside the school.

Was greeted by the school through a presentation.

There were 91 of us!!!

After which we went around the school to understand about the school life here and to interact with our counterparts. I'm really glad to have Gu Rong to be my host for this trip. She has taught me about how the people in Wuhan eat, how they spend their free time and more. In return, I shared with her about the life in Singapore, their food and the students' life there. She seemed to be very interested to come to Singapore to study. If that's the case, i would definitely bring her on a food tour in Singapore! We chatted and decided to exchange currency. Luckily i brought some Singapore currency and Gu Rong and the other students were excited to see Singapore currency. I'm happy that they have something that they can keep and remember us when they see the Singapore dollar note.

Lunch at the campus. Shredded chicken noodle. RMB 5.5

Entrance to the school library. It is HUGE!!!

After walking around the campus, we wanted to go to a nearby supermarket to look around and we got ourselves Wubei's specialty which is their "Ma Tang". It is really inexpensive too. I bought two boxes for my family to try. After that, we met up with the others and went to see an exhibition on human anatomy. Yes, real human anatomy. Many of us felt uncomfortable after seeing the displays and i must admit i felt very uncomfortable and dishearted at the same time....

At the supermarket...

At a local confectionary.

In the late afternoon, it was time to bid goodbye. We exchanged our numbers and e-mail address so that we could keep in contact again. I must say that this whole trip was really enjoyable and i have learned a lot from them. We took a final shot, gave each other a goodbye hug and i went up the bus. They were outside waving goodbye as the bus left... I hope that i can meet them again someday...
